Codorníu cava tasting and Sitges!
On Friday we had another excursion, this time to Sitges! We hopped on a bus at 9am and headed about 30minutes out to cava winery called Codorníu. Cava is a type of sparkling wine. On our tour of Codorníu we got to see the vineyards, go into the cellar and taste test! The celler was really cool, there are SO many bottles of wine just sitting down there. We got to go on a little trolly ride up and down all these hallways in the cellar; it felt like I was on the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland! At the end of our tour we got to taste test two different types of Cava, one rosa and one blanca (red and white). They were both very tasty and it was cool to be able to see the whole process of making the cava and then being able to taste the end result!
After our tour we got back on the bus and headed to Sitges! We got a half day there to do whatever we wanted, so naturally I spent the majority of the day at the beach. The beach at Sitges has more waves and a stronger current than the one in Barcelona that I have been going to lately. I liked it better because it was more fun to have the waves to play in! Unfortunately, there are jelly fish in this water, so we had to be carful! But otherwise I love the water here, but then again when you're used to the freezing waters of Santa Cruz then just about everything else feels warm.
Other than the beach we just walked around a little bit in the cute town. There was a church right on the edge of a small hill looking over the ocean where a couple was taking wedding photos. Also, I window shopped a little bit but surprisingly didn't buy any of the adorable things I saw(having the stores close for siesta is really saving me a lot of money lately). When I talked to others to see what they did many told me that they got this foot thing to make their feet super soft and smooth. Basically they put their feet in a bucket of little fish that ate off all the dead skin. I guess its illegal in the US because if you have an open wound the water they live in can give you an infection. But they all seemed pretty stoked that they got to do it here.
Overall Sitges was a very successful, fun and relaxing day trip!
